Editor-in-Chief
Diane Bérard's Vision
Our readers are ambitious, curious and open to the world. They seek to understand economic conditions with a view to better steering the fortunes of their companies. They count on Commerce to interpret the challenges they face each day and to place them in context. They are keenly interested in paths less travelled, new faces, new trends and little-understood - but important - challenges. They expect us to enlighten them on issues of ethics and governance which now form a part of their everyday reality. Commerce thus aspires to inform and enlighten readers, to drive them to think and help them fulfill their professional ambitions.

Diane Bérard's Profile

Diane Bérard has been Editor-in-Chief of Commerce magazine since November 2002. Prior to that time, she worked as a journalist. The recipient of numerous journalism awards, including Quebec Journalist of the Year in 1999, Ms Bédard was also Editor-in-Chief of Livre du siècle, published jointly by Transcontinental Publications and Grolier. She is also the author of two best sellers: Deux filles le mercredi soir, a humour-based essay on life in one's thirties; and, Les fous du roi. Written in cooperation with Rémi Tremblay, the book is an essay on the tyranny of focusing on shareholders and short-term results, and points up the perverse impact on corporate and economic vitality. In addition, Ms Bédard, in the capacity of financial columnist, writes for two television programs, namely "Deux filles le matin" and "Coup de Pouce." Diane Bérard graduated from Université de Montréal with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in industrial economics.

Since the fall of 2007, Ms Bédard has sat on the board of Maison Théâtre, Montreal's leading facility for promoting theatre with children and adolescents.
