La Nouvelle is distributed to 16,500 households in Eastern Ontario (i.e. in the villages of Embrun, Russell, Casselman, Saint-Isidore, Bourget, Hammond, Cheney, Vars, Sarsfield, Moose Creek, Crysler and, more recently, Maxville, Metcalfe and Edwards). It is essentially a community paper, with an emphasis on regional news.

Foundation:
La Nouvelle was launched in December 2000 as a monthly, only to become a weekly less than three years later. It was privately owned until August 2006, when it was bought by Transcontinental.
